Minors, 16–18, need a valid Texas Learner License permit (B Restriction) that has been held for at least 6 months, the driver education certificate DE-964 for the Driver License, and the certificate for the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) course: https://impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov/ITTD/
Adults, 18–24, need a valid Texas Driver Learner License permit (B Restriction), a Driver Education certificate from the Adult Driver Education course or an approved Teen or Parent Taught Driver Education course, and completed the Impact Texas Drivers course. Additional information below.
Adults, 25 and older, need a valid Texas Driver Learner License permit (B Restriction) and completed the Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) program, which is available for free at: https://impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov/ITAD/
The Impact Texas Drivers (ITD) course is available through the Texas Department of Public Safety’s website: https://impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov/
** Testers that completed the Adult Driver Education course should complete the Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD). Testers who complete a full Driver Education course are required to complete the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) no matter what their age is. **

How does online drivers ed work?
The process is straightforward. Create an account by choosing a username and password. You’ll be all set to start your driver’s education course in a few minutes.
Your course is available to you online 24/7. That means you can log in and out whenever you want and from any computer that has Internet access! Then, when you log back in, we’ll take you back to the exact place you left off. Doesn’t that sound better than spending your weekends in a classroom?
At the end of the course, there will be a final exam. Don’t worry, though—in most cases. You can take it as many times as you need to pass. Once you pass the test, we’ll mail out your Certificate of Completion within 1-2 business days. Shipment by USPS First Class Mail is free, but you can always upgrade your certificate’s delivery method. In some cases, we issue your Certificate of Completion directly to the driving school where you’ll take your in-car training, which saves you time and hassle!
How does online traffic school work?
First, create an account by choosing a username and password, and in a few minutes, you’ll be all set to start your online traffic school course.
Your course is available to you online 24/7. You can log in and out whenever you want, for as long as you want, and from any Internet access computer! Just log in, and we’ll take you back to the exact place in the course where you left off.
At the end of the course, there will be an online final exam. Don’t worry, though—in every state; you have more than one chance to pass!
Once you’ve passed the course, it’s time to let the state or court know, so you can get your ticket fixed or points removed from your record! The reporting requirements differ according to where you are. In some cases, we will send your Certificate of Completion to you for free, and you will have to notify the state or court that you have completed traffic school. In other cases, we will send the certificate directly to the state or court or even report your completion electronically. Don’t worry: whatever your specific situation is, we’ll walk you through the process.
Is this course required to get my permit or license?
This course fulfills requirements for the Parent-Taught option for required driver education and is approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The Parent-Taught program is an alternative to classroom instruction and can be completed at your own pace, in the comfort of your own home and neighborhood with a qualified parent or legal guardian.
